Hmmm... Notting much happened this week... Mainly revision since tomorrow is the start of the Exams!! Wah!!! Stress!! Hahax Well, Since there aint much to talk about... I decided to blog about what I think of Peer Pressure. These are all first hand experience. =X
Yah know... Peer Pressure has bad effects on people and it has good effects in certain ways too. It seems that peer pressure works most at the teenage time of our lifes. Mainly during secondary schools period. Weather or not you turn to the dark side or the light sides kinda depends mainly on the friends you make, the decision you make and the decipline you recieve around you. During that period most will not notice it since the mind is still young.
Lets take for example Smoking. As we all know smoking is a habit where kids of secondary school pick up easily. Some even started since primary school. Why start at such a young age? I asked many who smokes. Most are due to stress and curiosity. But then, it all still amounted back to peer pressure. Curiosity is the always the case. Where one will see his friend happily puffing his health away and wondering how cool is it to try one. Most of the time the friend will offer a stick for him to try out and you know the out come. One stick will not hook you. But continuous smoking will create habit and in the end... They cant quit since habits are hard to change.
Stress is also one of reasons. This applys to mainly to those who doesnt look like the type who smokes. The type with the decent face so to speak. If I tell you guys I use to smoke are you able to picture it? Actually I really used to smoke. During my O'level period. I believe those who went through O'levels know how stressful it can get. When too many things are going through your head you just wanna scream your lungs out so as to let it all out. You know the feeling... Hahax Mine occured during the september holidays where our DnT projects are already behind schedule. I wanted to sneak out of class just to chill out a lil but my friends went to buy cigarettes and there I was being the odd one out. You see the pressure there? The peer pressure there was when all other are in it and I aint. Best of all they were all so carefree and here I am worrying. Oh yah. Maybe I should share how big the peer pressure was. Out of 19 boys in my class only five person never touched a cigarette before. The rest all smoker -___-" Eventually I was in it.
Well going into smoking isnt the end... Peer Pressure can make you go into smoking. It too also can get you out of smoking! How it works? Let me explain... Ever since I got into smoking. I never went on to be a heavy smoker. In fact I limit myself and untill finally I made a resolution to quit by the time I turn eighteen. Just because I made the move to quit. My friends started to feel motivated. And soon one by one quit. And when the last one is left, he will feel out of place and eventually quit too. You see, Peer Pressure works in all ways. But good ones has to come with someone taking initiative. If you wanna quit smoking and you find it hard, come to me. I will assist you in it! I can promise you success!
